Zenith Bank & Visa launch new Visa Signature Card

Zenith Bank has officially partnered with Visa to introduce the Visa Signature Card, a premium payment product meticulously designed to serve affluent customers with enhanced global lifestyle benefits, travel privileges, and exclusive merchant offers.

The General Manager of the Retail Group at Zenith Bank, Emmanuel Oladimeji, said at the official unveiling in Lagos that the initiative aims to bolster the bank’s long-standing focus on high-value individuals. He noted that the launch is intended to scale up Zenith Bank’s existing reputation for serving the affluent market through products specifically designed for their unique needs.

Oladimeji emphasised that the collaboration with Visa represents a deeper level of engagement with the bank’s globally mobile clientele.

He described the Visa Signature Card as a significant step forward in the bank’s connection with its customer base, ensuring that those who value convenience and international mobility are supported wherever they travel.

Also speaking, the Director of Marketing at Visa, Seun Adaramola, explained that the product was built based on extensive research into the lifestyle patterns of affluent consumers, specifically focusing on their travel, shopping, and wellness needs. He noted that because these customers travel frequently and prioritise lifestyle experiences even when at home, the card was designed to address both international and everyday payment requirements.

The card differentiates itself by taking a holistic approach to benefits, successfully bridging the gap between domestic and cross-border advantages. Cardholders gain access to premium airport lounges and travel-related services across numerous global destinations. Furthermore, through Visa’s extensive merchant network, users receive exclusive discounts and unique value propositions at high-end outlets both abroad and locally. Mr Adaramola concluded that the product is ultimately about unlocking a lifestyle that these customers are already used to.

Targeting the audience, the Assistant General Manager and Head of Card Services at Zenith Bank, Celestina Appeal, defined the bank’s affluent segment by specific financial markers and spending behaviours. In the Zenith Bank’s framework, she said, “Affluent customers are identified as individuals with a financial turnover of N25 m and above. These customers are typically recognised by their high spending capacity and their preference for having premium products delivered with maximum convenience.”

Appeal further explained that these individuals can often be identified by where they spend their time and capital, such as high-end stores abroad and luxury restaurants locally. She described affluence as a progressive journey within the bank’s ecosystem, where customers typically begin with a gold card, progress to platinum, move to the newly launched Visa Signature, and eventually reach the elite Visa Infinite tier.
