A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Bala Maijama’a Wunti, has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Bauchi State, citing mounting pressure from supporters and stakeholders.
Dr Wunti made his position known on Friday during a visit to the APC secretariat in Bauchi Local Government Area, marking his first formal engagement with the party structure at both local and state levels.
He said his decision was driven by persistent calls from citizens who believe he can provide leadership, particularly in addressing youth unemployment and securing the future of the next generation.
“Allah knows, I only accepted to contest because of the pressure mounted on me to help rescue the future of our unemployed youth and safeguard the next generation,” he stated.
The aspirant pledged loyalty to the APC and promised an inclusive administration focused on equal opportunities and sustainable development if elected.
Earlier, the Coordinator of the Bala Wunti Movement, Rt. Hon. Yahaya Mohammed Miya said the visit was to introduce Dr Wunti to party stakeholders.
In his remarks, APC Chairman in Bauchi Local Government, Alhaji Biyali, described Wunti as a committed grassroots figure with a strong record in mentorship and human capital development.
He assured all aspirants of a level playing field ahead of the party’s primaries.
