Women to examine green economy financing

A non-profit organisation, ImpactHER has announced it will host an African Women Sustainability Conference 2024, aimed at positioning women entrepreneurs at the forefront of Africa’s green revolution.

In a statement, ImpactHER in collaboration with the African Union and the United States Department of Commerce, noted that the conference, themed ‘Igniting Africa’s Green Revolution: Empowering Women Entrepreneurs as Catalysts for Sustainable Growth and Unlocking Access to Eco-Financing’ will be held in Abuja.

According to the organisers, the conference is expected to gather leaders from over 10 African countries, global financiers, and key stakeholders to address the green financing gap and explore sustainable solutions.

“This is more than a conference, it’s a turning point for Africa’s women entrepreneurs. By uniting government leaders, global financiers, and visionary women entrepreneurs, we aim to unlock millions of dollars in eco-financing by 2026 and position women as the driving force of Africa’s sustainable future,” ImpactHER founder, Efe Ukala, said.

He noted that ministers from Nigeria, Chad, Liberia, Malawi, Benin, Zambia, Uganda, Cameroon, The Gambia, and Kenya were expected to participate, adding that they would be joined by representatives from leading financial institutions and the U.S. Department of Commerce to discuss eco-financing and sustainability opportunities.

The two-day event will feature executive roundtables, workshops on green business certification, and a pitch competition for green business ideas. Participants will also interact with exhibitions showcasing successful sustainable business models.

The organisers added that they believe the conference will catalyse empowering women entrepreneurs and fostering sustainable economic growth across Africa.
