ValueJet, Nigeria’s fast-rising airline, is positioning itself as the gateway for Nigerian tourists eager to explore The Gambia tourism, an emerging West African destination, without draining their wallets.

Since launching its direct Lagos–Banjul flights in May 2025, ValueJet has been spotlighting The Gambia’s capital city, Banjul, as a serene and affordable alternative for leisure travellers, adventurers, and business visitors.

In a statement signed by the Managing Director of the airline, Capt. Omololu Majekodunmi, stressed that “the Lagos to Banjul route is part of our broader vision to improve regional connectivity and make international travel within West Africa easier and more affordable.

ValueJet, which is the only airline operating direct flights into The Gambia, was touting both the destination’s charm and its cost-effectiveness, aiming to attract Nigerian tourists looking for a smooth and budget-friendly escape.

Majekodunmi described the route as a strategic move to unlock new tourism and trade opportunities between Nigeria and The Gambia, calling it “a milestone in regional travel and economic cooperation.”

He further noted that the airline operates twice a week into The Gambia, departing Lagos every Thursday and Sunday evening and returning from Banjul early Monday and Friday mornings, adding that “It was designed to suit both leisure and business travellers.”

The airline has also emphasised its competitive pricing and customer-focused service as key draws for passengers. With its “Easy Breezy” campaign.

ValueJet has been highlighting not just its low fares but also the ease of travel, stressing “No layovers, minimal wait times, and access to one of West Africa’s most picturesque cities.”

Citing the testimony of a young professional and travel enthusiast, Titi, who recently visited Banjul after seeing a friend’s glowing social media post, affordability and convenience were major selling points.

“I didn’t think an international beach getaway could be this simple or this budget-friendly,” she said.

Beyond the beaches, ValueJet is promoting Banjul’s rich blend of history, culture, and hospitality, hoping to position it as the next big travel destination for West Africans.
