UPDATE: Tinubu To Receive Certificate Of Return As APC Presidential Candidate Today


President Bola Tinubu will on Sunday receive the Certificate and Flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as its Presidential candidate for the 2027 elections.

The Presidential Primary Elections Committee will present the certificate and flag at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja after nationwide collation of the primary election results.

According to his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, APC governors, members of the National Executive Committee, the National Working Committee, and the National Assembly, along with party stalwarts, will attend the event.

This is coming on the heels of the shadow election held throughout the country on Saturday, where he was overwhelmingly returned as the candidate of the party.

Abbas mobilises massive crowd for Tinubu in Zaria

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tajudeen Abbas on Saturday, mobilised thousands of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zaria for President Bola Tinubu during the party’s presidential primary election.

At a rally held at the Filin Nasara, Zaria, before the commencement of the APC presidential primary election, major APC leaders and stakeholders from Zaria, led by the speaker, gathered to rally support for the president.

Addressing the crowd, Speaker Abbas said Zaria Federal Constituency and indeed Kaduna State are the luckiest under President Tinubu, noting that all the interventions he attracted to the constituency across healthcare, education, agriculture, roads, transport, youth empowerment, small-business support, security assistance, and social intervention were made possible through the president.

He said, “Today is a significant day in the history of Nigeria’s politics, Kaduna State, and Zaria Federal Constituency. This is the day fixed to affirm the APC presidential candidate at the ward, local government, and state levels across the country.

“Today is historic because the people of Zaria, particularly APC members among us, have come out in thousands to vote for our leader, our father, and our mentor, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to fly the flag of our dear party to continue to lead us in this country.

“I am not surprised to see the mammoth crowd at this venue today, because just like the Hon. Minister of Environment noted, among the 774 local governments in Nigeria, I don’t think there’s any one of them that is as lucky as Zaria under the current APC administration.

This is not a political statement; it is a statement of fact. If we look at all facets of human development, it is evident that Zaria is ahead.

Sanwo-Olu hails peaceful conduct in Lagos

 Lagos State Governor, on Saturday commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise held across the state, describing it as a reflection of the party’s strong internal democracy.

Sanwo-Olu spoke shortly after casting his vote at Ward E3, Adeniji Adele, on Lagos Island, where he participated alongside his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.

The governor praised party members, electoral officials and security personnel for ensuring a smooth and transparent process, noting that the direct primary system had given grassroots members the opportunity to freely choose the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to him, the large turnout witnessed at the ward level across Lagos State showed the unity, strength and growing acceptance of the ruling party among members.

Sanwo-Olu disclosed that no fewer than 1,887 party members had already been accredited at his polling unit before his arrival, describing the turnout as impressive and encouraging.

Faleke, Odunmbaku lead voters in Ojodu LCDA

The Member representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. James Faleke and the Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon.

Segun Odunmbaku, on Saturday led party leaders and members of the party to vote in the presidential primaries. They were joined by top APC leader and a member of the Lagos Governance Advisory Council, GAC, Cardinal James Odunmbaku.

The chairman voted in his Ward B, Ojodu Primary School, Ikeja, accompanied by party members and leaders within the council.

Akume calls for unity in Benue, decry diversion of materials

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume yesterday underscored the importance of unity within the party in Benue State.

He also expressed displeasure over the alleged diversion of materials during the party’s primaries held in the state earlier in the week.

Senator Akume who was in the state to mobilize support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory at the primaries, urged party members and stakeholders in the state to place the collective interest of the APC above personal ambitions, noting that internal cohesion would be critical to the party’s success in future elections.

He appealed to aggrieved aspirants and their supporters to embrace dialogue and reconciliation, insisting that disagreements arising from the primaries should not weaken the party’s structure in the state.

Kaduna APC’s 255 ward unanimously endorse Tinubu

Members of the party across Kaduna State unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as presidential candidate in next year’s election on Saturday.

The affirmation exercise, conducted across all 255 political wards in the 23 local government areas of the state, witnessed a large turnout of party members and stakeholders who rallied behind President Tinubu’s re-election bid.

The exercise was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) alongside designated party officials to ensure compliance with laid down electoral guidelines and procedures, according to statement shared by Kaduna state Governor’s media aide, Ibraheem Musa on Saturday.

Tinubu wins in Edo

In Edo State, the President scored 131,096 (One Hundred and Thirty-One Thousand, Ninety-Six) votes to defeat his opponent, Mr. Stanley Osifo, who got only one vote.

Speaking, the Edo State Returning Officer and Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, said the election was peaceful across the state, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu securing the highest number of votes in the election, which was held simultaneously across the 36 states of the federation.

He said: “The election was peacefully conducted across Edo State. I participated in the election myself as I voted in my ward, and the results have been presented as received from all the 192 wards in the state.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured 131,096 votes.” The collation officers from the 18 local government areas of Edo State were at the APC Secretariat, Ikpopan, in GRA, to present the results scored by the candidates in the primary election.

…Wins in Kwara too

In Kwara State, the State governor and Collation Officer, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, declared President Tinubu the winner, when he announced that the President polled 310,990 votes to defeat his lone challenger, Stanley Osifo, who got nil.

“I am glad to be here today for the conclusion of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries which began with the House of Representatives, senatorial, Senate, House of Assembly, and governorship primaries,” he said.

“I, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Collation Officer of the 2026 APC presidential primaries for Kwara State, hereby present the result of the state as follows: Total number of party registered number 457,374.

The total number of accredited voters 310,990. Total number of votes cast 310,990. “At the end of the voting exercise, the aspirants scored the following votes.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu scored 310,990 and Stanley Osifo nil. “His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, having satisfied the requirements of the APC and guidelines and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner.”

Sweeps, secures overwhelming victory in Bayelsa

In Bayelsa State, Governor Duoye Diri and the Collation Officer announced that the President Tinubu recorded a decisive victory across the State, emerging with an overwhelming majority of votes in the exercise.

He stated that the primary was conducted peacefully across wards in the state, with active participation from party members.

According to the results, Tinubu dominated the polls across the local governments. In Brass, he secured 39,454 votes, while his challenger failed to record any vote.

In Ekeremor, he polled 45,949 votes, also with no opposition votes recorded. Kolokuma/Opokuma delivered 22,593 votes for Tinubu, while Nembe returned 32,487 votes in his favour.

In Ogbia, he secured 24,896 votes, maintaining a clean sweep. Sagbama recorded 46,283 votes for the President, while Southern Ijaw posted one of the highest totals with 74,136 votes.

In Yenagoa, Tinubu polled 30,834 votes, while his opponent managed only 5 votes. At the end of the collation, Tinubu amassed a total of 277,192 votes across Bayelsa State, while his sole challenger recorded just 5 votes.

Declaring the result, the State Returning Officer affirmed that the figures represented the accurate and official collation of votes from all local government areas, adding that the process was peaceful and conducted in line with party guidelines.

Zamfara returns landslide victory

The Chief Returning Officer, Governor Dauda Lawal, who made the declaration at the collation centre, Government House Gusau, said President Ahmed Bola Tinubu emerged winner with total number of 321,631 against his opponent, Stanley Isifor, who scored only 42 votes.

“I Dauda Lawal, the collation officer of the 2026 All Progressives Congress Presidential Primary Elections for Zamfara State, hereby present the results as follows;, total number of party registered members, 365,796, total number of accredited votes stand as 322,435, while total number of votes cast, 321,621.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who emerged winner, scored 321,575, while his rival, Stanley Isifor, scored only 42 votes in the exercise.
