UNIOSUN ex-DVC gets fellowship in UK varsity


Immediate-past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic, Research, Innovation, and Partnerships), Prof. Anthony Kola-Olusanya, has been awarded a prestigious Visiting Fellowship at the University of Warwick, United Kingdom.

In a statement released on the varsity’s website, the university’s public relations officer Ademola Adesoji said that Kola-Olusanya had been selected to participate in Warwick’s Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) Visiting Fellowship Scheme from 23rd April to 30th May 2025.

It read, “His fellowship will lay the groundwork for deeper academic collaborations between UNIOSUN’s Global Affairs and Sustainable Development Institute and Warwick’s Sustainability Spotlight, an initiative spearheaded by the university’s Institute for Global Sustainable Development.

“During his time at Warwick, Professor Kola-Olusanya will engage in collaborative workshops, interact with leading researchers, explore sustainability-focused undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and contribute to joint publications and strategic initiatives. His participation further underscores UNIOSUN’s commitment to cutting-edge research and international academic partnerships.”

Reacting to the development, UNIOSUN’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Odunayo Clement Adebooye, congratulated Professor Kola-Olusanya on this notable achievement.

 He emphasised that UNIOSUN prides itself on the high calibre of its academic staff, reaffirming the university’s leading position in research, scholarship, and community development.

He revealed that the invitation was extended by Professor Jane Webb, Head of the School of Cross-Faculty Studies at Warwick, further highlighting UNIOSUN’s growing international recognition.

Adebooye said, “This opportunity aligns with the university’s vision to expand its global research footprint and foster impactful academic partnerships.

 “UNIOSUN remains steadfast in its mission to empower scholars, drive innovation, and strengthen global academic networks.

Kola-Olusanya’s selection for this prestigious fellowship is yet another testament to the university’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and global impact.”

Kola-Olusanya is a scholar with expertise in environmental sustainability education, sustainable development, and indigenous environmental knowledge.

He completed his PhD at the University of Toronto, Canada, and he is passionate about fostering inclusivity and diversity in the higher education sector.
