An unidentified woman was crushed to death by a hit-and-run tricycle rider on Saturday in Ilorin, Kwara State capital.

The incident, according to an eyewitness, occurred on Unity Road in the early hours of Saturday before the commencement of the three-hour monthly environmental sanitation exercise.

The exercise starts from 8 am to 10 am on the last Saturday of the month.

The victim was rushed to a private hospital at Sabo-Oke, an area of the Ilorin metropolis, where she was confirmed dead on arrival by the doctor on duty.

Efforts to reach both the spokespersons of the police and Federal Road Safety Corps in Ilorin on Saturday for their reactions to the tragic incident proved abortive.
