Unidentified lifeless body retrieved from well in Kano


The Kano State Fire Service, on Saturday, retrieved the body of an unidentified lifeless man from a well in Kano.

Confirming the tragic incident, the spokesman for the Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, explained that on Saturday, 2nd November 2024, at approximately 16:15 hours, the central control room of the department received a call for emergency assistance from the DPO of the Kwalli Police Division.

He stated, “The control room reported that a lifeless body had been sighted in a well at an uncompleted building located at Kadama Bakin Titi in Kumbotso Local Government Area, Kano.”



The spokesman said a police team arrived at the scene of the incident at approximately 16:40 hours and noticed some dried blood stains around the well, stressing that when the rescue team peered into the well, they discovered the decomposing body of a man, about 25 years old, whose identity remained unknown, and who was unfamiliar to residents in the area.

Abdullahi explained that the body was swollen, indicating that he must have been in the well for the last four days or thereabouts, according to residents.

He said the rescue team subsequently removed the lifeless body from the well and handed it over to ASP Sani Abdulhamid, DCO2 of Kumbotso Police Division.
