The Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednessay paid a solidarity visit to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following what both parties describe as increasing pressure on opposition parties in Nigeria.
During the visit, the PDP leadership led by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde acknowledged what it called a “growing and shared threat” confronting opposition parties.
The PDP also noted that similar challenges have recently affected operations within its own party.

The delegation stressed the importance of vigilance and collective action to safeguard democratic principles and ensure political plurality in the country.
Also present in the PDP delegation were Kabiru Turaki, Adolphus Wabara, and Jerry Gana, Babangida Aliyu, Taofeek Arapaja, Hajiya Inna Ciroma, Ishaya Bamayi, Fred Agbedi and Ini Ememobong
They were received by key ADC leaders such as Atiku Abubakar, David Mark, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Rauf Aregbesola, Bolaji Abdullahi Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi, among others.
In their response, ADC leaders expressed appreciation for the visit and echoed concerns about what they described as an “existential threat” to Nigeria’s democracy.
They pointed to alleged efforts aimed at weakening major opposition parties and emphasized the need for unity and sustained engagement among democratic stakeholders.
