Transcorp Power School produces Delta maths champion

The Transcorp Power School has solidified its reputation as a hub for academic excellence after one of its pupils, Etagbedavwe Amwarha, emerged as the overall winner of the 2025 Delta State Primary School Mathematics Competition.

The victory marks a significant milestone in Transcorp Power Plc’s ongoing efforts to foster intellectual growth and community development within its host regions.

The competition, according to a statement by Transcorp on Monday, was organised by the Delta State Government and was designed to test the mathematical aptitude of the state’s brightest young minds through a demanding three-stage process. Starting with 172 participants across various local government areas, the field was steadily narrowed through competitive rounds until only eight finalists remained for the grand finale in Asaba. Amidst this elite group, Amwarha’s performance secured him the top spot.

The MD/CEO of Transcorp Power Plc, Peter Ikenga, said, “We are incredibly proud of Etagbedavwe Amwarha and of everyone at Transcorp Power School who made this extraordinary achievement possible.

“At Transcorp Power, we have always understood that our responsibility extends beyond generating electricity; it encompasses energising the communities around us. The success of our pupils is the most direct measure of that responsibility fulfilled.”

The victory has been celebrated as a collective win for the school’s faculty and the broader Transcorp community.

For the staff at the school, the achievement validates their commitment to maintaining high academic standards and providing a nurturing environment for students.

“This victory belongs to every member of the Transcorp Power School family: our dedicated teachers, our hard-working pupils, and the continued support of Transcorp Power Plc,” noted the school’s principal, Emeji Okeoghene.

“We have always believed in the potential of every child in this school, and Etagbedavwe’s triumph at the state level is the finest proof of that belief,” she added.

For the young champion, the achievement has been both humbling and inspiring. After the results were announced, Amwarha attributed his success to the encouragement from his family and the strong support system and facilities provided by the company.

“I am so happy to have won for my school and my community. I am grateful for Transcorp Power Plc for creating the platform for me to excel in my academics. This makes me want to work even harder,” Amwarha said.

The achievement reflects Transcorp Power’s multi-pronged Corporate Social Responsibility strategy, which includes programmes like VSTEEP and partnerships with the Tony Elumelu Foundation. As the company continues to support Nigeria’s energy transition, it maintains that its impact is best measured by the success of the citizens it empowers.
