Toyota to Unveil New Hybrid and Electric Vehicles in 2025


Toyota Nigeria Limited says it has concluded plans to introduce a fuel-efficient vehicle and a hybrid/electric vehicle in response to the country’s economic situation and the Federal Government’s drive for a green environment.

The Managing Director of Toyota Nigeria Limited, Kunle Ade-Ojo, made this known at a press conference on Thursday in Lagos. The briefing also saw the official opening of the second edition of an exclusive Toyota Motor Show in Lekki, where different Toyota models, such as Land Cruiser, Hilux, Fortuner, Granvia, and Prado, were on display. Also on display are Toyota parts, motor oil, as well as the body and paint shop.

Speaking at the event, Ade-Ojo stated, “For hybrid/electric introductions, we will be introducing the Urban Cruiser and Corolla Cross, hence supporting the Federal Government’s green initiative. We are going to be introducing more fuel-efficient vehicles with hybrids, having extra battery packs to allow your vehicle to go extra mileage.

“Another very key model is the mini Land Cruiser, which will come in later this year or early next year. It is slightly smaller than the RAV 4, but it is a four-wheel drive with a 2.4-litre engine.”

He also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to diverse model offerings and customer service. He added that the show, which commenced on May 27, is to run till Sunday, June 1, except Friday, May 30.

The MD noted that the Toyota Motor Show offers its customers the opportunity to buy some models at discounted rates as well as showcase the after-sales capability of the company.

He further said, “In terms of product introduction, later on, this year, we have some models coming up, the Starlet Cross, the SUV version, the new model Corolla Cross, new RAV 4 will be coming towards the end of the year or early next year.”

He added that in support of the Federal Government’s Green Initiative, the company will soon introduce some hybrid/electric vehicles.
