Tincan Customs Collects Record N16.4bn Revenue in One Day

The Nigeria Customs Service, Tincan Island Port Command, has achieved a remarkable feat by collecting N16.4bn in revenue on August 19, 2025, through the effective deployment of the Unified Customs Management System, B’Odogwu. This milestone is a testament to the efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness of the system in streamlining port operations.

According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the command, Oscar Ivara, the achievement is a result of the command’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance revenue collection and trade facilitation.

The Customs Area Controller in charge of the command, Frank Onyeka, attributed the success to the B’Odogwu system, which has improved the ability of licensed customs agents and stakeholders to access payment platforms and complete cargo clearance processes in real-time.

“The B’Odogwu system has drastically improved the ability of licensed customs agents and stakeholders to access payment platforms and complete cargo clearance processes in real-time, without unnecessary delays or administrative bottlenecks,” Onyeka explained.

He added that the platform has integrated all key elements of port and customs operations under one digital interface, enabling faster processing, accurate valuation, and enhanced monitoring of cargo activities.

Onyeka noted that the record-breaking revenue figure is not just about numbers, but reflects the game-changing role of the B’Odogwu system in modernising port operations. “It reflects the game-changing role of the B’Odogwu system in modernising port operations and further highlighting the benefits of the command’s continued collaboration with all relevant stakeholders,” he said.

The Customs Area Controller emphasised that the command remains dedicated to enhancing trade facilitation, securing revenue for national development, and supporting all port users in achieving timely and cost-effective cargo clearance. “A coordinated approach ensures that cargo clearance processes are seamless, compliant, and business-friendly,” he added.

The success of the B’Odogwu system is a testament to the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve revenue collection and trade facilitation. The system has streamlined port operations, reduced delays, and enhanced the overall efficiency of the customs clearance process.
