Three Suspects Arrested Over Killing Of 65-Year-Old Farmer In Ogbomoso


A 65-year-old farmer, Kehinde Idowu, has reportedly been killed by persons suspected to be herdsmen in Oriire Local Government Area of Ogbomoso in Oyo State.

The deceased was allegedly killed on Sunday by herdsmen who demanded that he allow their cattle to graze in his cassava farm, which he disallowed.

The incident, according to sources close to the village, occurred at Igbopupa in Yawota near Alawusa, Oriire local government area.

The deceased reportedly went to the farm at about 4:00 pm on Sunday to inspect his cassava farm, but was allegedly macheted by the suspects.

New Telegraph‘s check revealed that the farmer was rushed to a hospital in Ogbomoso, where he later died around 2:00 am on Monday.

Confirming that the matter has been reported to the police at Ikoyi-Ile, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, when contacted, said three suspects have been arrested.

“Yes, they said Pa Kehinde Idowu sustained serious injury and was confirmed dead at the hospital today. Meanwhile, three persons have been arrested in connection with his murder, and the investigation is ongoing,” Ayanlade said.
