TD Africa & Schneider to Build AI Data Centres in Nigeria

TD Africa, West Africa’s leading technology distribution company, and Schneider Electric have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop future-ready, AI-powered data centres across Nigeria, strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure and supporting its ambitions for resilience, sustainability, and global competitiveness.

The announcement was made during the Schneider Electric Innovation Day Nigeria 2025, an event held recently to mark Schneider Electric’s 25th anniversary in Nigeria.

The gathering brought together over 450 participants, including IT partners, automation engineers, electrical consultants, architects, end users, and senior government officials, under the theme “Unlocking Nigeria’s Energy Future: Policy, Innovation, and Investment”.

Chairman of the Zinox Group, Dr Leo Stan Ekeh, signing on behalf of TD Africa, described the partnership as a strategic step in Nigeria’s digital evolution.

“This partnership is a testimony to TD Africa’s commitment to championing Africa’s digital future. Building AI-powered, resilient, and sustainable data centres is not just an investment in technology; it is an investment in the competitiveness of Nigerian enterprises for the next decade. Together with Schneider Electric, we are building the infrastructure that will support a smarter, greener, and more prosperous Nigeria,” he said.

The MoU combines TD Africa’s extensive distribution network and technological expertise with Schneider Electric’s global leadership in energy management and automation. The resulting data centres, designed for both core and edge environments, will be energy-efficient, secure, scalable, and compliant with global sustainability standards. They are expected to enable enterprises to adopt emerging technologies and compete effectively on a global scale.

The event also featured insights from Zone President, Middle East & Africa, Schneider Electric, Walid Sheta, and Cluster President, Schneider Electric, Canninah Dladla, as well as senior executives from the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Rural Electrification Agency, Nigeria LNG, Aradel Holdings, SEforALL, and several government agencies. Panel discussions emphasised the urgent need for transformative partnerships, policy alignment, and long-term investments to support Nigeria’s evolving energy and digital landscape.
