Taye Currency Petitions Oyo CP Over Rolex Dee’s Threat To Eliminate Him

A popular Ibadan-based Fuji maestro, Adebisi Taiwo Akande, better known as Taye Currency, has petitioned the Oyo State Police Commissioner, Mr Abimbola Olugbenga, to investigate an alleged threat by another musician, Ridwan Rolex Dee, to tarnish his image and eliminate him.

The famous musician petitioned the Police Boss through his lawyer, Dr Olutayo Oyewale, in a letter dated 30 March 2027 titled: Threat to life, cyberbully with intent to defame Taye Currency, false viral incitement on “Agbaletu” Show, threat to eliminate Taye Currency by one Ridwan Rolex Dee.

The lawyer, in a copy of the petition obtained by New Telegraph, where he also alleged cyberbully, said his client briefed him that “one Ridwan Rolex Dee was introduced to our client by his friend Wale Adoba, who pleaded to our client to assist the said Ridwan Rolex Dee, which our client did oblige, and also assisted to produce his album with the sum of ₦800,000 (Eight Hundred Thousand Naira), and has always supported the said Ridwan Rolex D.

“The said Ridwan Rolex Dee after being assisted by our client, never had any further contact and/or relationship with our client until recently when he threatened our client in his viral video that he will ensure he eliminates him and also dress his good reputation in a “borrowed robe” with threat words which include thus: ‘Alhaji Taye Currency, gbogbo ohun ti mo ni ni ma fi ri wipe mo gba emi yin’, meaning: “Alhaji Taye Currency, I will ensure I use everything at my disposal to eliminate you”.

The lawyer also said that “the said Ridwan Rolex Dee further extended his threats to dress Taye Currency (our client) in a “borrowed robe” when he went to “Agbaletu TV Show” (being anchored by Bamidele Adeyanju), and also in serial viral video, bullied our client thus: “Alhaji Pasuma, ema je ki Taye Currency dobale fun yin to ba wa be yin, ema je ko dimo yin o”, meaning: “Alhaji Pasuma, don’t allow Taye Currency to prostrate for you when he comes to beg you, and don’t allow him to hug you”.

Citing Section 24 (2) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2024 (as amended), as an offence committed through the threatening broadcasts, lawyer Oyewale urged the Police Commissioner to investigate Ridwan Rolex Dee, as his client is poised to seek legal redress for threatening him in his viral video.

The lawyer quoted the section of the law contravened as including: “A person who knowingly or intentionally transmits or causes the transmission of any communication through a computer system or network (a) to bully, threaten, or harass another person in a manner that places the other person in fear of death, violence, or bodily harm; (b) containing any threat to kidnap any person, to harm another person, any demand or request for ransom for release of a kidnapped person, or to extort from any person, firm, association, or corporation any money or other thing of value; or; (c) containing any threat to harm the property or reputation of the addressee or another person or of a deceased person or to falsely accuse the addressee or another of a crime, or to extort any money or other thing of value commits an offense under this Act and is liable to conviction to (i) For offenses under (a) and (b): Imprisonment for 10 years or a minimum fine of ₦25,000,000.00. (ii) For offences under (c): Imprisonment for 5 years or a minimum fine of ₦15,000,000.00.

“It is instructive to put in clear terms that the acts of Ridwan Rolex Dee violate sub (a), (b), and (c) of the referred sections and hence the need to seek appropriate legal redress forthwith.

Our client who is a law abiding citizen and who will not want to take laws into his own hands, has briefed our Law Firm to seek appropriate legal redress on his behalf hence, our complaint to your good offices for a discreet and astute investigation of the serial viral Cyberbully of Ridwan Rolex Dee on our client, and also save our client’s life from being eliminated, as we do not take the said threats as a mere puff nor a mere threat”.

Lawyer Oyewale nevertheless revealed in the petition that the online TV Show, “Agbaletu”, through which part of the cyberbully was transmitted (and which had been served a protest letter), “has written a reply to our letter dated 27th day of March, 2026 wherein they retracted all remarks, videos, and unguarded comments on our client. Hence, no further issue with Agbaletu”.
