SystemSpecs to launch essay competition

A software firm, SystemSpecs, has announced plans to commence its 2025 Children’s Day Essay Competition in February with the aim of providing a platform for creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through technology.

In a statement, the firm said the annual event was for young Nigerians aged nine to 16.

The company’s Executive Director of Corporate Services, Bukola Adeoye, highlighted that the competition is part of SystemSpecs’ efforts to promote technological literacy and innovation among youths.

Adeoye emphasised that the essay, which has run for five years, aligns with SystemSpecs’ commitment to fostering technological awareness and nurturing local talent.

“The competition aims to nurture local talent and equip the next generation of leaders with the skills necessary to thrive in Nigeria’s digital economy,” Adeoye said.

She explained that Nigeria’s competitive edge in the global economy depends on equipping its youth with essential technological skills, adding “For Nigeria to compete effectively on a global scale, the next generation must be equipped with the requisite technological skills from an early stage.

“Over the past five years, we have been dedicated to promoting technological awareness nationwide, highlighting the significance of initiatives like this in shaping Nigeria’s digital future through the CDEC.”

SystemSpecs noted that in over 30 years in the ICT sector, it has invested in initiatives to build a sustainable tech environment.

Adeoye pointed out that the competition aligns with the company’s long-term vision of promoting tech literacy and preparing Nigeria to compete on the global stage.

“The competition, which has become increasingly competitive, is expected to attract participants from all 36 states and the FCT,” she said, adding that the essay competition has drawn entries from both public and private schools across the nation.

“It’s a unique opportunity for students to explore technology and develop essential skills that will empower them for the future.”

The firm hailed the competition as recognised and inspiring to thousands of young Nigerians, with more participation from female students.

“The competition has seen a significant increase in entries, particularly from female students, aligning with global initiatives like Girls in ICT,” Adeoye noted, expressing SystemSpecs’ commitment to making the 2025 edition even more impactful.
