Tech startup Symmex has unveiled a new product, Huraflow-MES/EAM, designed to boost efficiency, transparency, and reliability across Nigeria’s factories.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Symmex, Olumide Awoyemi, described the product as “Africa’s first locally developed integrated Manufacturing Execution and Equipment Maintenance System.”

He said the innovation would help pharmaceutical and fast-moving consumer goods manufacturers overcome inefficiencies caused by manual processes.

Speaking on Thursday at a virtual launch event, Awoyemi said, “Huraflow-MES is designed to help factories not just operate but thrive, bringing intelligence, transparency, and reliability to every stage of production. It is more than software. It is a statement that Nigeria has the talent to develop critical industrial technology that is globally competitive.”

He explained that the software would empower executives with the intelligence they need to thrive in competitive markets while improving frontline workers’ productivity on the shop floor.

Awoyemi noted that Symmex aimed to become a world-renowned technology conglomerate, stating, “We are already hard at work with a team of hardware product engineers to develop specialised computerised mechanical/electronic devices for environments where consumer-grade devices cannot deliver long-term enterprise value; talk of hospital wards, manufacturing shop floors, highways, war trenches, mining fields, etc.”

Chairman of Fidson Healthcare Plc, Dr Fidelis Ayebae, represented by the company’s Global Head of IT, Victor Agbogu, pledged support for Symmex, adding that Fidson would integrate the product into its over 10 production lines, which serve global firms such as GSK and Bayer.

Delivering the Fidson Chairman’s keynote, Agbogu said, “The fourth industrial revolution has emphasised the place of relevant technology from artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and cloud computing. Automating pharma processes with Huraflow will enhance efficiency, improve production quality, reduce human errors, and lower production costs.”

He also called on the Federal Government to support startups like Symmex through tax rebates and investment initiatives, noting that collaboration between the private sector, government, and media would help build Nigeria’s industrial future.

Agbogu cautioned that as more firms adopt cloud-based solutions, cybersecurity must remain a priority.

He said, “Corporations are investing heavily in cybersecurity because many customers will host their proprietary information on Huraflow.”

Industry players at the event, including Quality Assurance Manager at Emzor Pharmaceutical Ltd, Ola Stephen, examined the challenges of digital transformation in quality management systems.
