Swift Telephone Network supports health outreach

Swift Telephone Network has partnered with General Hospital Mushin to deliver a free medical outreach in the Mushin and Itire communities with the aim of promoting better health practices among local residents.

The outreach, held on Wednesday, is part of the telco’s community social responsibility efforts and marks the company’s first-ever initiative focused on healthcare.

The initiative provided free health screenings, including blood pressure, blood sugar, malaria, and BMI tests, as well as consultations with specialists such as pediatricians, gynecologists, ophthalmologists, and family physicians.

Over 200 individuals were expected to benefit from the initiative, which also included the distribution of free diagnostic kits and medication.

Systems Administrator at Swift Telephone Network, Victor Okorie, noted the importance of the partnership with General Hospital Mushin.

“We are committed to fostering healthy habits in the community. This medical outreach is part of our broader goal to ensure that people in the Mushin/Itire area adopt healthier lifestyles,” he said.

He disclosed that the partnership with General Hospital Mushin was particularly significant due to the hospital’s open approach to collaboration.

“We reached out to various medical facilities, and General Hospital Mushin welcomed us with open arms.

Their willingness to partner with us made them the ideal choice for this important outreach,” Okorie added.

The Medical Director and CEO of General Hospital Mushin, Dr Oluyemi Taiwo, praised the initiative, emphasising the hospital’s ongoing commitment to improving community health.

“This is just one example of our regular outreach programs. We conduct these initiatives every quarter and also celebrate international health observance days,” Taiwo said.

She also highlighted the importance of such partnerships. “We believe that with more support from organizations like Swift Telephone Network, we can continue to make a difference in the health and well-being of the people in Mushin, Itire, and surrounding areas,” Taiwo said.

The outreach is expected to leave a lasting impact by raising awareness about the importance of regular health check-ups while also strengthening community ties.

Both Swift Telephone Network and General Hospital Mushin plan to continue their collaboration and are exploring opportunities for future joint initiatives.
