Summit to honour Elegushi, Nike Art Gallery, others

The BusyBee Event Business Summit in Africa has announced that the BusyBee Excellence Awards will honour Olori Sekinat Elegushi and the founder of Nike Art Gallery,  Mrs Nike Davies, for their exceptional contributions to advancing Nigeria’s event planning industry.

The founder of BusyBee Events Lagos, Bisi Sotunde, announced that the 8th BusyBee Event Business Summit, themed “The forward-thinking event professionals- innovation meets imagination”, will take place in Lagos from November 26 to 28, 2024.

In addition to these industry leaders, she said members of the Well-Watered Garden Tribe and zonal champions will also be celebrated.

Sotunde, said, “This year’s theme emphasises the event industry’s need for innovation and strategic foresight. We aim to inspire professionals to adopt forward-thinking approaches, embrace new technologies, and anticipate future trends.”

According to Sotunde, the events industry is facing an unprecedented crisis with professionals struggling to keep pace with rapid technological advancements, shifting consumer preferences, and evolving business models.

She highlighted the alarming statistics, noting that recent surveys show a significant majority of event planners fail to integrate technology into their events. This shortfall has resulted in unmet revenue expectations and a widespread lack of formal training in event management.

“The events industry is on the precipice of a revolution. Those who fail to innovate will be left behind,” she said.

Sotunde admonished event professionals and urged them to embrace innovation or run the risk of being obsolescent.

Outlining the activities of the summit, she said the summit will kick off with a cocktail to allow people to network and offer insights into the summit’s activities.

Sotunde further revealed that there would be a Masterclass dedicated to learning, where professionals can engage with transformative ideas and strategies from industry leaders.

“With both physical and virtual attendees, this session is designed to inspire and educate,” she added.

“We will have a Gala/ Awards night, themed “African Royalty”, to celebrate and also recognise industry achievements,” she said.

The speakers lined up for the summit include the Chief Executive Officer of White Chalk Global, based in Accra Ghana, Bryan Mensah; CEO of Zapphaire Events, Funke Bucknor; CEO of TrendyBee Events, Bisola Borha; CEO of IPC Events, Mosun Akinwamide.

Others are Noble Igwe, Olasunkanmi Akande of Lavish by Michelle, Ogunyemi Augustine of Aksent Events, Music Artiste, Segun Johnson, Dayo Okeseyin; CEO of Authentic Cuisine, Lolade Salami.
