SIFAX Group Donates ICT Center, Market to Ogun Communities

SIFAX Group has donated some community projects, including an information and communication technology centre and 27 open markets, among others, to the Isade-Elero and Pampa-Isade communities in the Ijebu North-East Local Government Area of Ogun State.

This was contained in a statement on Tuesday by the Group Head, Corporate Communications at SIFAX Group, Olumuyiwa Akande, who explained that the projects were designed to transform the social, economic, and spiritual life of the community.

According to the statement, the newly commissioned projects include “the Chief Samson Afolabi Centre for Information and Technology Services, a 100-seater ICT resource hub; the Isade Central Mosque; a Community Security Office (Elero Security Post); 27 open market stalls; and a modern recreational facility.”

“This inauguration adds to a long list of interventions previously executed by SIFAX Group and its Chairman, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, in these communities, including the construction of a community health centre, seasonal road grading, and the building of St. Mark’s Church auditorium, hall, and vicarage.

These earlier projects continue to serve as essential lifelines for the people,” the statement read in part.

SIFAX Group is a multinational conglomerate based in Nigeria, with diversified investments across various sectors, including maritime, aviation, haulage and logistics, oil and gas, hospitality, and financial services.

At the heart of SIFAX Group’s operations is its strong presence in the maritime and logistics industry. The company owns and operates several subsidiaries, including Ports & Cargo Handling Services Limited, which is a concessionaire at the Tincan Island Port in Lagos. Through these operations, SIFAX has played a pivotal role in modernising Nigeria’s port infrastructure and improving cargo handling efficiency.

Beyond business, SIFAX Group is deeply committed to social responsibility and community development. Its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives span education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development. The donation of an ICT centre, market facility, and recreation centre to communities in Ogun State highlights the group’s dedication to improving lives and fostering sustainable development in Nigeria.

In his remarks during the inauguration, the Chairman of SIFAX Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting grassroots development through impactful projects that cut across religion, trade, and education.

The Chairman, who was represented at the event by his elder brother, Dr. Wale Afolabi, said, “SIFAX Group and Dr. Afolabi believe in the principle of social impact through support for communities across the country in the form of infrastructural provision, human capital development and economic empowerment for the vulnerable. It is this same vision that underlines the support we are providing for these communities today.”

Earlier, the Chairman of Ijebu North-East Local Government Area, Folusho Badejo, lauded the initiatives and the sponsors, noting that such private interventions complement the government’s efforts.

“These kinds of projects are what the local government embraces, as they help augment our efforts towards making lives easier for our people. I am excited to see the markets as well as the ICT centre, as they are projects the local government itself aspires to execute,” he said.

The Baale of Isade-Elero, Moses Odunuga, described the projects as “a prayer answered.
