Segun Shonubi honoured by Lagos Country Club

The Lagos Country Club has honoured Segun Shonubi with its 2025 Outstanding Resource Person Award, recognising his contributions to the club and his wider professional impact.

According to a statement, the club presented the award at its 2026 New Year’s Party, where the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, represented the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as the Special Guest of Honour.

In his citation, the President of the Lagos Country Club, Seyi Adewunmi, said, “Mr Shonubi was singled out for the honour for exemplifying the institution’s core values through his unwavering dedication and selfless service, qualities that fundamentally advance the ideals of the Lagos Country Club.”

Shonubi earned the recognition for his leadership as Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee, where he spearheaded key initiatives that strengthened the club’s engagement and influence.

The organisation stated that under Shonubi’s leadership, the committee revived the Lagos Country Club Business Forum, which had been dormant for 10 years, and repositioned it as a platform for thought leaders to collaborate on strategies for national growth and economic stability.

The citation also highlighted his role in initiating high-level strategic engagements with political leaders, senior media executives and captains of industry, efforts credited with expanding the club’s relevance in national discourse.

The Lagos Country Club described Shonubi as a seasoned professional. He previously served as Director of Membership Services and later retired as Director of Capacity Building, Certification and Standards at The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.

He currently serves as an Executive Director at FIC Professionals Network Limited, where he contributes to advancing Nigeria’s financial inclusion ecosystem.

Shonubi is married to Justice Adenike Shonubi of the Lagos State High Court.
