Schneider Electric Launches Power Solutions for African SMEs

Schneider Electric is rolling out new products in West Africa aimed at easing high energy costs for small businesses, the French multinational said in a statement on Tuesday.

The new GoPact range, including a moulded case circuit breaker and a manual transfer switch, is now available in the region. The products are designed for everyday use in small shops, housing complexes and non-critical commercial buildings where cost and reliability matter more than advanced features.

Schneider said the GoPact line is suited for low- to medium-density commercial buildings, cluster housing, retail outlets, mini-sub applications and other non-critical industry installations.

“GoPact is crucial to the West African market because of the value it brings to our distribution channel and their customers. It is an affordable offering, which helps us compete with low-cost brands from India and China which have entered the marketplace quite aggressively,” Opeyemi Olaniyan, Offer Manager, Power Products at Schneider Electric West Africa, stated.

He added that while Schneider Electric’s premium products are often reserved for large projects and critical buildings, the GoPact range is designed for everyday, less complex uses.

“Schneider Electric’s GoPact products can be used for loose component fittings in less critical applications. It fits well in non-type-tested enclosures, making it easier to sell in markets with more affordable panels,” Olaniyan explained.

He said the GoPact moulded case circuit breaker is designed to handle common electrical faults such as short circuits and overloads. It includes an adjustable safety unit and a second protection mechanism that helps reduce fault current, making it more reliable. The MCCB also comes in models that protect all phases of the power supply.

The device supports power ratings of up to 800 amps and breaking capacities of up to 70 kA. It is available with fixed, adjustable or electronic options and is packaged sustainably using fully recycled cartons and QR codes instead of paper manuals.

The GoPact manual transfer switch supports between 63 and 2000 amps. Compact in design, it saves space and is easier to install with pre-fitted components for faster and safer setup. The product meets international safety standards, the company added.

Schneider Electric noted that the GoPact range was developed with robust design and optimised manufacturing processes, combining affordability with the company’s global quality standards.

“With the GoPact portfolio, we are able to deliver affordable yet dependable solutions for small businesses and everyday power needs, while strengthening our competitive position in West Africa’s fast-growing electrical market,” the company stated.
