Ahead of the the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Convention scheduled to hold on Sunday, March 29, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki has called on party members in Kwara State to remain united and committed.
Saraki, a two-term Governor of Kwara State, gave the charge on Saturday during a pre-national convention dinner held at his Abuja residence, which brought together Kwara delegates, aspirants, state executives and other key stakeholders.
Describing the convention as a defining moment, Saraki said the exercise would determine the party’s readiness to present a credible alternative platform in the state.
He noted that the convention represents the “Last leg” in the process of repositioning the party to challenge for power in Kwara.
Saraki urged aspirants to approach the anticipated primary elections with maturity, warning against internal divisions that could weaken the party’s chances.

He added that party members, including himself, had made sacrifices in the interest of rebuilding the PDP, urging stakeholders to prioritise unity over personal ambition.
The former Senate President emphasised the need for immediate grassroots mobilisation after the convention, calling on party leaders to engage wards, local government structures, youth groups and directorates.
Saraki extended an invitation to members of opposing political camps, assuring them that the PDP remains open and inclusive.
Saraki also criticised the current administration in Kwara, describing its impact as a “bad narrative” for the state.
He, however, expressed confidence that the PDP would reclaim power and reposition the state for growth and development.
“Alhamdulillah that we are at this point. This convention is very important to us not just as a party, but as a state seeking a credible platform for contest.
“What is important is PDP winning and salvaging our state. This is not a do-or-die affair but a collective mission.
“We should all be committed and stay together for the sake of our state.
“Our doors are open. Many are suffering in silence; we can accommodate as many as possible for the sake of the state.
“PDP shall resecure the state and lead it to prosperity,” he declared, adding that “PDP is a family affair.”
