Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has launched an advanced e-learning platform alongside free academic materials for pupils and students in public primary and secondary schools, marking a significant phase in the state’s Human Capital Opportunities for Prosperity and Equity (HOPE) initiative.
The unveiling, held at Lagos House, Marina, formed part of a public sensitization and presentation of the state’s achievements under the World Bank-supported programme, organized by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget.
The HOPE initiative, introduced in 2025, integrates reforms across three pillars: primary healthcare, education and governance (HOPE-GOV), targeting structural gaps in public service delivery.
With the latest rollout, the programme will provide free literacy and numeracy books for Primary 1-6 pupils, as well as free literacy, numeracy and science textbooks for Junior Secondary School students.
Sanwo-Olu, while highlighting milestones recorded under the initiative, said the state had made notable progress in strengthening foundational learning through improved tools, construction and rehabilitation of over 1,000 classrooms, expansion of digital education platforms, and recruitment of thousands of teachers backed by continuous capacity development.
