Rooney Backs Man City As Title Favourites Over Arsenal

Wayne Rooney on Monday said he believes Manchester City have gained the psychological advantage over Arsenal in the Premier League title race.

The former Manchester United captain said he feels Pep Guardiola’s side has taken control of the mental battle for the championship.

“I think City will have the edge on that, just purely the manager and players they’ve got. They know how to win the title and have a manager who knows how to do it,” he said.

Although Arsenal have spent much of the season at the top, Rooney warned that recent setbacks could start to weigh on them mentally.

“They will be able to stay a little calmer than the Arsenal players,” he added, comparing both sides.

He also highlighted the impact of losing momentum, explaining, “When you go on a run and lose a few games, you start thinking, ‘Where’s the next goal, the next win going to come from?’ That negative mindset really has an impact on your performance.”
