Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has announced his latest cinematic project, Revelations, a deeply personal film that brings his family story to the big screen and features his son, Tega Mofe-Damijo, in a debut acting role.
The film, set for release in August, according to a statement to The PUNCH on Tuesday, marks a significant milestone for the Mofe-Damijo family, as both father and son share the spotlight in a cross-continental production that bridges Nollywood and Hollywood storytelling styles.
At the core of Revelations is the emotional journey of Kesiana Voke, a Nigerian immigrant in the United States who battles personal demons while pursuing his dream of becoming a surgical oncologist. The character, played by RMD, navigates cultural transitions, professional challenges, and intimate struggles alongside his wife, Melissa, an American oncologist.
The film explores themes of love, infertility, emotional healing, and the complexities of cross-cultural relationships. As the couple builds a successful life together at the fictional Ogden Valley Medical, they are forced to confront unspoken secrets that threaten their marriage and careers.
Speaking about the project, the Nollywood veteran described the film as one of his most personal works to date.
“This isn’t just a film; it’s a deeply personal journey. Sharing the screen with my son is a gift I’ll always cherish,” he said.
For Tega Mofe-Damijo, Revelations represents more than an acting debut; it is a rite of passage.
“Working alongside my dad on a story with so much depth and heart has been life-changing. It challenged me as an actor and grounded me as a man. I’m proud of what we’ve created and what it represents, for us, and for the future of African cinema,” Tega said.
Produced by Tanya Price, who also stars in the film, Revelations is set against the contrasting backdrops of Nigeria and the American West, blending the emotional depth of Nollywood with the cinematic sophistication of international drama.
The cast features a diverse lineup of actors, including Chioma Chukwuka, Alex Boyé, and Ryon Thomas, bringing authenticity and global appeal to the production.
Industry insiders have described Revelations as a bold reimagining of Nigerian storytelling, breaking traditional boundaries to tell a universal story of love, pain, and redemption.
The film also boasts technically accurate medical scenes, a rarity in Nollywood, and offers viewers a visually striking experience as it captures both the snow-capped landscapes of Utah and the cultural roots of Nigeria.
