The House of Representatives has begun moves to overhaul Nigeria’s planning and budgeting architecture through a high-level national policy dialogue. This is even as the country intensifies efforts to position itself for a $1 trillion economy.
Chairman of the House Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, Gboyega Isiaka (APC, Ogun), disclosed this at a press briefing at the National Assembly yesterday.
Isiaka, who spoke on behalf of the joint committee of the Senate and House of Representatives disclosed that a two-day dialogue has been scheduled for April 14 and 15, 2026, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
He said the dialogue is designed to bridge longstanding gaps between national development plans and budget implementation—an issue widely seen as a major constraint to sustainable economic growth.
The lawmaker explained that the dialogue would convene critical stakeholders from across government, the private sector, and policy institutions to chart a more coherent development path for the country.
