Remi Bello Declares Lagos Assembly Ambition

Hon. Remi Bello has officially declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly to represent Agege Constituency ‘01’ on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC).

The declaration event, held at Shitta Street, Dopemu in Agege on Thursday, attracted a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including party leaders from Agege and Orile-Agege, traditional rulers, religious leaders, market men and women, artisans, as well as representatives of the Hausa and Igbo communities, all of whom openly endorsed his candidacy.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Fatai Jibola, a renowned party stalwart, expressed gratitude for the growing political momentum behind Bello’s ambition while praising the leadership of the party in the area led by Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.

Jibola described Bello as a trusted protégé of Hon. Obasa, noting that although the task ahead is significant, the aspirant’s track record of service and engagement within the constituency positioned him as a strong contender.

“Truly, we give all the glory to God for today. We must also appreciate our leader, mentor and motivator, Hon. Obasa, for his leadership. Remi Bello is a good product, and we believe he is capable of representing us effectively,” Jibola said.

In his remarks, Hon. Bello said he was humbled by the level of support and confidence reposed in him by the stakeholders, especially the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, whom he described as his leader and mentor.

He emphasised that his aspiration is rooted in collective progress rather than personal ambition.

“Today marks a defining moment for our constituency and for me personally. I am deeply humbled by this overwhelming show of love and trust.

“This is not just my ambition—it is a collective movement. With God’s guidance and your support, I will serve with diligence, integrity, and focus on the welfare of our people,” he said.

A youth representative, Mr Sefiu Esan, also voiced strong support for Bello’s candidature, describing the endorsement as a reflection of shared aspirations across Agege and Orile-Agege.

Esan noted that various community groups, including traditional institutions, traders, artisans, and youth bodies, had unanimously thrown their weight behind Bello.

He added that Bello’s consistency in community engagement and responsiveness to local concerns has earned him widespread trust, expressing confidence in his ability to consolidate on existing developments within the constituency.

The event ended with renewed calls for unity and collective support ahead of the forthcoming electoral contest in the constituency.
