RCCG Overseer Adeboye Denies Involvement In TikToker SeaKing’s Arrest

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has refuted claims that he was involved in the arrest of popular TikToker, Olumide Ogunsanwo, a.k.a ‘SeaKing.’

Ogunsanwo was recently rearrested over allegations of cyberbullying the popular cleric, which has sparked reactions on social media, with many questioning the circumstances surrounding his arrest.

During the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service held at the Redemption City along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State on Friday, Adeboye addressed the issue, distancing himself from the detention of Seaking and calling for his immediate release.

In a viral video on Saturday, the 82-year-old declared that he neither ordered nor supported the arrest, noting that some individuals, apparently angered by SeaKing’s comments against him, took matters into their own hands.

“I heard that there is someone who lambasted me thoroughly. What is my offence? Because I asked my people to fast for 100 days. I didn’t ask him o,” Adeboye said while speaking to the congregation.

“I didn’t even ask anybody who is not a member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to fast. I was told some people got so angry and went to arrest the fellow. Release him, he’s fulfilling prophecy,” the declared.

Meanwhile, human rights activist and politician, Omoyele Sowore, who visited the detained TikToker at a police facility in Abuja on Friday, alleged that the arrest was based on a petition submitted in Pastor Adeboye’s name.

According to Sowore, the petition was reportedly filed by one Paul James Adama, who used the name of a Christian association allegedly linked to the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

Sowore also linked the arrest to the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, whom he claimed attends RCCG with his family.

Taking to his Facebook page late Saturday night, Sowore wrote: “The Nigeria Police Force under illegal and mediocre Kayode Egbetokun is unhinged; what most don’t know is that Egbetokun and his family members are “redeemers,” an aphorism used to describe Redeem Church members, so make no mistake about it RCCG National Headquarters Parishordained the war against popular TikToker Olumide Ogunsanwo @seaking303 forget about what PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE is telling the public.

“Last year, during the annual Holy Ghost congress, over 100 police officers guarded Egbetokun’s wife alone; it is the reason these dissemblers don’t rate Nigerians. Since yesterday,

@seaking303’s detention location has been changed, and his whereabouts are unknown. We must fight to separate religious entities from the Nigerian state. But beyond that, this country is overripe for a revolution.”
