Qing Madi Reveals How She Was N50,000 For A Drug Of N2,000

Afrobeats sensation Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, popularly known as Qing Madi, has revealed that a local pharmacy allegedly overcharged her N50,000 for a medication that was initially priced at N2,000.

Speaking on the “Tea with Tay” podcast, Madi explained that when they were in the car together, her father asked her to get medication at a nearby drugstore.

As she walked up to the counter, Madi said, the pharmacy employees recognised her right away and started shooting pictures and videos.

“Sometimes, before, because my parents didn’t know how much I had spent at the time. Not until one day, I was in the car with my parents, and they asked me to get out in front of the pharmacy to get medicine. Now, mind you, my father was there. I’m not going to say no.

“When I got there, they started taking pictures of me. To my shock, the drug that originally cost N2,000 was sold to me for N50,000.

“When her father approached the employees about the exorbitant pricing, which the pharmacy denied, the situation apparently got worse.

My dad got very angry and went back for them, but they denied it. I was so embarrassed because of everything, the photos, the overcharge.”

Madi, known for hits like “See Finish” and “Ole”, shared the story as a cautionary tale about the challenges of sudden fame.
