PZ Cussons Rebounds with N10.06bn Profit in 2025

PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc has returned to profitability, recording a profit after tax of N10.06bn for the financial year ended 31 May 2025, compared with a loss of N90.31bn in the previous year, representing a 111 per cent improvement.

The company’s audited financial statements, filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited, showed that revenue rose 40 per cent to N212.63bn in 2025 from N152.25bn reported in 2024.

Operating profit stood at N18.92bn, a sharp recovery from the N124.50bn operating loss recorded in the prior year, while profit before tax rose to N16.66bn from a loss of N122.49bn.

The company attributed the turnaround largely to improved sales performance and a significant reduction in foreign exchange losses, which dropped to N7.78bn in 2025 from N157.92bn in 2024.

Earnings per share recovered strongly to N2.32 from a loss per share of N20.83 the previous year, while profit attributable to shareholders amounted to N9.21bn, reversing the N82.70bn loss posted in 2024.

Despite the return to profit, PZ Cussons’ equity position remained negative at N17.34bn, although this reflected a 37 per cent improvement when compared with negative N27.51bn in the preceding year.

The company also reported a decline in staff strength, with the number of employees reducing eight per cent to 867, down from 946 in 2024.

The PUNCH reported that PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc has reported a profit after tax of N5.54bn for the year ended May 31, 2025, recovering from a loss of N76.02bn recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
