Purposeful Growth to Unlock Nigerian Insurance Sector Potent

The President of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, Mrs Ekeoma Ezeibe, has called for a purposeful growth of the insurance sector for its potential to be unlocked.

Ezeibe made the call at the Council’s Members’ Evening sponsored by Prudential Zenith Life.

She is the 23rd president of the council and has pushed the one-industry agenda at her inauguration, held recently in Lagos.

The NCRIB President emphasised the need for the industry to work together as one powerful force, shedding silos and fragmentation, to drive growth, innovation, and trust.

“Nigeria’s insurance industry has immense potential, but we need growth with purpose. Purpose that puts the customer first, empowers brokers, and makes insurance indispensable to every Nigerian,” she said.

The NCRIB’s third female president noted that her vision for a unified industry was anchored on four key areas: Capacity Building, Industry Advocacy, Innovation and Technology, and Member Engagement.

She added that her administration planned to collaborate with stakeholders, including insurers, regulators, and other industry associations, to create an enabling environment for the industry to thrive.

Ezeibe also highlighted the challenges facing the industry, including low insurance penetration, trust deficits, and complex regulations. However, she viewed these challenges as opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and growth.

In her comments, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Prudential Zenith Life Insurance, Mrs Funmi Omo, announced that the company not only met but also surpassed its capitalisation requirements, positioning it as a resilient and forward-looking partner ready to deliver exceptional service and value to clients and brokers alike.

On hosting the first Brokers’ Evening since Ezeibe became NCRIB president, Omo said it was a show of support for the new leader.

“We are committed to working with the NCRIB leadership to achieve this vision. Together, we can make Nigeria’s insurance industry a major player in the global market,” Omo said.
