The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate has received two brand new CNG-powered buses from the Presidential CNG Initiative.

Announcing the donation on its social media pages, PTAD said the buses were received by the Director, Corporate Services Department of the Directorate, Mr Kabiru Yusuf, on behalf of PTAD and thereafter presented to the Executive Secretary, Tolulope Odunaiya.

“The buses are part of the palliative intervention of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR administration directed at providing succour to the masses by reducing transportation costs and contributing to a cleaner, healthier environment,” the statement read in parts.

Meanwhile, PTAD has reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the recently approved N32,000 pension increment for retirees under the Defined Benefit Scheme once budgetary provisions for 2025 are released.

Odunaiya explained that the January 2025 pension payments did not reflect the increment due to the delay in the release of funds.

However, she assured that the directorate was working closely with relevant government agencies to ensure the full implementation of the increment and the payment of outstanding arrears as soon as possible.

Odunaiya noted that PTAD had already paid four months’ arrears (August–November 2024) to pensioners under the Civil Service Pension Department.

Also, retirees from the Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pension Department, Police Pension Department, and the university sector of the Parastatals Pension Department received five months’ arrears (August–December 2024).

She further stated that through strategic funds management, PTAD had previously settled outstanding arrears related to the 20 per cent and 28 per cent pension increments, ensuring that all affected pensioners were fully paid.

PTAD, which was established in August 2013, is tasked with managing the old pension scheme for pensioners who retired on or before June 2007 and did not transition to the new scheme.
