The Finance Manager of Prudential Insurance Plc, Chidi Michael, has resigned from the position, the leading provider of technology and share registration services has formally announced.
The departure, which took effect on 28 February 2026, was confirmed in an official notice submitted to the Nigerian Exchange Limited.
To ensure operational continuity, Prudential Africa has appointed Omolayo Akindemowo, an experienced chartered accountant, to manage the finance function on an interim basis.
In a formal statement regarding the leadership change, Company Secretary Joseph Jibunoh noted, “The company has accepted Mr Michael’s resignation and has appointed Mrs Omolayo Akindemowo, a Chartered Accountant, as his replacement pending the appointment of a substantive Chief Financial Officer.”
The Lagos-based firm emphasised that this appointment is a temporary measure while the recruitment process for a permanent Chief Financial Officer is underway.
Regarding the timeline for a permanent replacement, the official filing stated, “The Company will notify the market once the appointment process for the Chief Financial Officer has been concluded.”
Africa Prudential Plc remains a major player in the Nigerian capital market, specialising in share registration, data management and digital-enterprise solutions for both public and private entities.
In the corporate world, the resignation of a Finance Manager is a routine yet critical disclosure for a publicly listed entity. Under Nigerian Exchange regulations, companies must maintain high standards of transparency regarding changes in Key Management Personnel.
By appointing Akindemowo immediately, the company ensures that its financial reporting and compliance obligations remain uninterrupted, a vital requirement for adhering to strict regulatory filing timelines.
Given that Africa Prudential is known for being a consistent dividend-paying stock, its financial health is closely monitored by shareholders.
The finance function remains the backbone of its corporate governance, particularly regarding the management of high-volume investment data and dividend distributions.
