The Ports Authority Police (Western) Command is set to actively participate in the 2026 National Police Day (NPD) celebration, a week-long series of activities aimed at strengthening police-community relations, promoting public safety, and honouring the dedication and sacrifices of officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Isaac Hundeyin examined on Friday that the theme for this year’s celebration was “Community Partnership: Building Trust” In line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, Hundeyin noted that the command had outlined a comprehensive programme of events within its area of responsibility to commemorate the occasion.
Also, the command’s Commissioner, Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, explained that activities would commence on Monday, March 30, with community-focused outreach programmes, including sanitation exercises and the cleaning of selected public spaces across port environments.
Police personnel will also carry out a medical outreach through the Police Medical Units, offering basic healthcare services to members of the public. She said: “On Tuesday, March 30, officers and stakeholders will participate in a ‘Walkathon’ scheduled to begin at 0600hrs.
“Participants will be adorned in branded T-shirts, symbolising unity, fitness, and the shared commitment to safer communities. “The events will continue on Wednesday, April 1, with stakeholders’ engagements around the ports.”
