…IGP Disu vows Justice
Following the visit of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Tunji Rilwan Disu, to Jos, Plateau State, seven suspects have been arrested in connection with the deadly attack on the Angwan Rukuba community.
During the visit on Thursday, April 2, the IGP assured the residents that those responsible will be brought to justice.
“The tragic attack incident claimed 27 lives and left 19 others injured. His visit comes at a time of growing concern over security in the area.
Speaking to members of the affected community, the IGP expressed deep sadness over the incident and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to restore peace and stability.
So far, a good number of suspects have been arrested in connection with the attack, while the investigation is still ongoing. Among those arrested is a person who was impersonating a soldier.
The IGP also visited the affected community and later went to hospitals where the injured victims are receiving treatment. He offered them words of comfort and reassurance.
At the Government House, the IGP met with the Plateau State Governor, Caleb Muftwang, and members of the State Executive Council. He condoled with the Governor and the people of Plateau State, describing the attack as painful and unacceptable, and promised that the perpetrators would be brought to book.
In his response, Governor Muftwang thanked the IGP for his quick visit and prompt action, describing it as timely and reassuring in a period of grief for the people of the state. He also commended the swift deployment of the Deputy Inspector-General in charge of Operations, noting that the move helped to stabilise the situation shortly after the attack.
The Governor praised the Commissioner of Police in the state for his leadership and professionalism. He also acknowledged the courage of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, especially the Mobile Police units, whose efforts helped to manage the crisis.
While appreciating the efforts of the police, Governor Muftwang appealed for the deployment of more personnel to the state. He noted that the presence of police officers gives people a sense of safety.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to working closely with the police, stressing that strong security is key to protecting lives, attracting investors, and growing the economy.
The visit by the IGP shows the seriousness of the situation and highlights the commitment of both the police and the state government to work together to restore peace in Plateau State.
