The Society of Petroleum Engineers International has presented its Africa Legacy Leadership Award to the Chief Executive Officer of Kenyon International, Victor Ekpenyong.
The award was conferred during the Africa Technology Conference held in Tanzania recently, recognising individuals who have made notable contributions to the continent’s energy sector.
A statement by the company stated that Ekpenyong was honoured during the conference’s awards night, which celebrated professionals shaping Africa’s technological and industrial landscape.
The SPE President, Olivier Houzé, presented the award to Ekpenyong, “acknowledging his work in advancing energy solutions and his involvement in community development” initiatives.
The company stated that Ekpenyong used the platform to unveil the Africa Regional Student Scholarship, a joint initiative with SPE’s Africa Region, aimed at supporting young Africans pursuing careers in the energy sector. Five students were reported selected from Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Ghana.
In his remarks, Ekpenyong said the scholarship was inspired by a transformative experience involving one student, which he described as a “timely intervention” that revealed the broader need for academic support across the region.
