PDP To Adopt Consensus, As Party Inaugurates Oluyede’s Campaign Team

In preparation for the 2026 gubernatorial election in Ekiti state, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has disclosed that the party would adopt consensus to field candidate for the governorship election.

The party stated that it has learnt from the past mistakes and ready for a united front as a formidable entity. The PDP expressed the determination to wrestle the power from the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC and bounce back to the Power.

The PDP assured the people of Ekiti state that it would harness the resources of the state for viable development.

The party spoke on Tuesday in Ikere-Ekiti, during the official inauguration of Wole Oluyede’s campaign team ahead of the governorship poll.

A former Commissioner for Community Development under Segun Mimiko’s administration in Ondo State, Clement Faboyede at the inauguration stated that “We are going to do consensus. PDP is now wise”

He declared that PDP remains the only political party that can save the people from economic dwindling which he alleged was masterminded by the ruling APC.

Faboyede criticized the current administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji saying:

” Ekiti does not need flyover. Ekiti communities have no Health centers. Schools are moribund. If elected, Oluyede will bring grassroots development to Ekiti.

“Oluyede has experience in electioneering, he will move Ekiti forward, we will support him, we will stand by him because he’s capable of doing it”.

Speaking with journalists, PDP Southwest Zonal Organising Secretary, Muwa Benson said a Prominent PDP leader who rose to governorship cadre with the PDP platform has lost his relevance in the party because he compromised, stressing that his, (the leader) endorsement of the opposition party won’t stop PDP from winning the gubernatorial election, with a promise to return governance to the people through a revitalized and united political front.

He described Wole Oluyede as a dependable aspirant, whose experience in the electioneering process can’t be overemphasized.

Benson expressed confidence in Oluyede’s capacity to steer the wheel of Ekiti State, adding that the APC government has brought nothing but suffering to the residents of the state

He urged members of the public to support the committee members to make the struggle to reclaim power easier, noting that the party is fully prepared to bounce back stronger and establish a formidable political structure capable of regaining control of the state.

His words, “If you look at PDP today, it is those who have benefited, those who have used this platform to achieve, they are the ones throwing away the baby with the bathwater.

“They are those whose destiny are still tied to this party. They are those who are here to take their own benefit of democracy.

The PDP Southwest Zonal Publicity Secretary, Sanya Atofarati also urged members not to be deterred charged on commitment and loyaltys to the Oloyede-led campaign team.

The inauguration was attended by the party Chieftains in the South West, Oyo,Osun, Ondo and Ogun among others while they all expressed the readiness and determination to chase away the ruling party for ‘viable governance’ in the state.
