The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has concluded its governorship and senatorial primary elections in Bauchi State ahead of the 2027 general elections, producing candidates for key elective positions.
At a special delegates’ congress held on Sunday, the party affirmed Usman Adamu Sufi as its governorship candidate through affirmation and voice votes.
The Chairman of the PDP Governorship and State House of Assembly Primary Election Committee, Yusuf Doma, declared Sufi the winner after certifying that he fulfilled all constitutional and electoral requirements.
Doma also disclosed that candidates for the State House of Assembly had emerged in their respective constituencies in line with party guidelines.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Senatorial Primary Election Committee, Ali Ibrahim, announced the emergence of candidates for the three senatorial districts.
According to him, Dabo Danjuma Adamu emerged as the PDP candidate for Bauchi South through affirmation.
He said Abdulkadir Adamu won the Bauchi North ticket after polling 137 votes to defeat Maula Adamu Aliyu. For Bauchi Central, Bello Ibrahim was affirmed as the party’s candidate.
Ibrahim described the primaries as peaceful, transparent and conducted in line with the PDP constitution and the 2026 Electoral Guidelines.
In his acceptance speech, Sufi thanked delegates for their support and pledged to prioritise education and healthcare if elected governor.
