Parthian Partners takes financial literacy message to schools

To commemorate the International Day of Education, Nigeria’s first inter-dealer broker, Parthian Partners, took the message of financial literacy to public schools.

In a statement on Sunday, the firm said that the programme was done under its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the ‘Smart Money Skills for Tomorrow Project.’

Launched in 2024, the SMSTP project is Parthian Partners’ effort to address the glaring financial literacy gap among Nigerian youths, particularly those in public schools. The initiative is built on a simple yet profound belief: equipping young minds with financial skills is not just about managing money—it is about empowering them to build better futures.

The International Day of Education is an annual observance on January 24 that celebrates the importance of education for peace and development.

Speaking on the initiative, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Parthian Partners, Mr. Oluseye Olusoga, said, “The Smart Money Skills for Tomorrow Project isn’t just a CSR initiative; it’s a promise to the next generation—a promise to invest in their potential and prepare them for a financially secure future. Financial literacy is not just a skill; it’s an empowerment tool. By teaching young minds how to manage money, solve problems, and think entrepreneurially, we are giving them the tools to build a brighter future, not just for themselves, but for our nation as a whole.”

He added, “This initiative is about more than teaching numbers. It’s about creating a generation of critical thinkers, problem solvers, and resilient entrepreneurs who will redefine the trajectory of our economy. This is our way of giving back to society because society has impacted our company over the years. We hope that by doing this, we’re able to support the next generation of leaders who will empower and improve societies in Nigeria.”

Under this initiative, Parthian Partners has visited schools such as Government College Osborne, Idata Community High School, Victoria Island Secondary School, Ebute Elefun High School, and Royal Kriston College to provide financial literacy education.

The impact of the SMSTP is already evident in the schools it has reached. At Government College Osborne, students spoke passionately about how the programme had opened their eyes to the importance of saving and investing.

At Royal Kriston College, the principal, Mrs. Ify Ibeawuchi, noted that the programme made an impact.

“My students have learnt more, and I also learnt a lot even as an adult. I want to assure you that they will replicate this knowledge to the rest of the students,” she said.

The firm added that as the world celebrates the International Day of Education, initiatives like the SMSTP offer a powerful example of how education can be a tool for transformation.

“Parthian Partners is not just teaching students how to manage money; they are teaching them how to dream bigger, aim higher, and build a better future for themselves and their country. In a nation brimming with potential yet grappling with systemic challenges, the SMSTP is a testament to what can be achieved when businesses, educators, and communities come together with a shared vision of empowerment and progress. As Nigeria charts its path forward, one thing is clear: the future belongs to those who invest in it today,” the statement concluded.
