The Chairman of the OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week Advisory Board, Otunba Adetunji Oyebanji, says this year’s edition of the event will focus on energy sustainability, regional collaboration and competition across Africa’s downstream petroleum value chain.
Speaking at a press parley ahead of the 2025 OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week, scheduled to be held in Lagos from October 26 to 31, Oyebanji said the annual event, organised in collaboration with the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and other strategic partners, remains the highlight of the downstream industry calendar.
According to him, the conference will bring together stakeholders across the petroleum, gas and energy sectors to deliberate on key developments shaping the market, under the theme, ’Energy Sustainability – Growth Beyond Boundaries and Competition’.
He said, “The deregulated market which we valiantly advocated for many years is now upon us, and all interested parties are still trying to achieve balance and equilibrium in the new regime. While this has come with controversy, we believe that the market will achieve balance in the very near future.”
Oyebanji noted that OTL 2025 will feature high-level engagements on regulatory collaboration, including ministerial and regulator panels involving five West African countries.
He added that more than 60 speakers will participate in 10 strategic sessions focusing on investment, finance, technology and corporate realignment.
“As the continent’s premier showcase platform for downstream energy, delegates and visitors are expected to experience a showcase of innovations, services and technology at the OTL Trade Exhibition, with leading industry brands on hand to engage with the market,” he said.
He listed key focus areas to include oil refining, petroleum products trading, shipping, tank storage, logistics, marketing, retail, LPG, lubricants, petrochemicals, power, financial services and policy.
Oyebanji also disclosed that the weeklong programme would feature visits to major production hubs, including the Dangote refinery, as well as networking sessions, receptions and social events designed to give international and local participants a memorable Lagos experience.
He added, “Over the past 18 years, OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week has redefined the downstream energy market indelibly, staying at the forefront of setting the agenda and promoting business and operations.
“We are looking forward to an exciting week ahead and to hosting Lagosians together with Nigerian and international visitors for impactful, fun-filled days of information, networking and business deals.”
