The paramount ruler of Iwoland, Iwoland Local Government Area of Osun State, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has barred the lawmaker representing Ayedire/Iwo/Olaoluwa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Lukman Mudashiru, from entering his palace.
Oba Akanbi made this known in a statement he shared on his Facebook page on Friday, March 27.
The revered traditional ruler accused Mudashiru of neglecting Iwo traditional institutions.
Before barring Mudashiru, an indigene of Iwo, elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 general election, but currently an Accord Party member,
Recall that the Oluwo had endorsed Ayodeji Bello, another Iwo indigene seeking the Accord Party’s ticket for Ayedire/Iwo/Olaoluwa Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections.
In an update on the matter shared on his Facebook page, Oluwo said by virtue of his position, he deserves a stewardship explanation from the current lawmaker representing the constituency, which he has failed to render.
The statement titled, “Oluwo Bars House of Rep. Member representing Iwo Federal Constituency in Abuja from entering his palace,” further read, “Oluwo is an entity. He is the traditional head of the town.
“The stool is rich, and further promoted by the incumbent occupant, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi. Iwo is the traditional and political head of Osun West Senatorial District, Osun State.
“By virtue of these pedigrees, Oluwo deserves the most traditional honour in the district.
“If you are a politician representing any or all areas in the district, you owe Oluwo a stewardship explanation.”
He insisted that the lawmaker, “Either directly or indirectly, you are representing the interest of his (Oluwo’s) district. Traditionally, he heads the district, so also is the stewardship account from both elective and appointed political holders.”
“As a cultured Yoruba man, would you start bathing from the leg? Capital NO. The day a man tries to walk with his head is the day he begins an open madness.”
But when contacted for reaction, Mudashiru simply said, “it is an issue between a father and his son. It will be resolved because it is a family affair.”
