Operators to discuss CNG benefits at expo

Global and regional energy stakeholders will convene for the sixth West Africa LPG Expo 2025, a flagship event advancing West Africa’s clean energy transition to discuss the economic benefits of compressed natural gas.

The West Africa LPG Expo 2025, scheduled for March 3–4, 2025, in Lagos, would feature discussions on liquefied petroleum gas and compressed natural gas as transformative energy solutions.

The Director of the LPG Expo, Jeffery Leung, stated that the event aims to foster innovation, collaboration, and sustainability in the energy sector.

“With a proven track record of connecting thousands of industry professionals, LPG Expo continues to champion the transition to cleaner energy worldwide,” Leung said.

The event will spotlight Nigeria’s Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, which seeks to grow the number of natural gas vehicles to one million by 2026.

According to Leung, this initiative underscores the economic, environmental, and energy independence benefits of CNG adoption. Running alongside the LPG Expo is the 2nd CNG Africa Nigeria 2025, emphasising the country’s role in accelerating CNG integration into its energy mix.

He further mentioned that neighbouring countries like Ghana, Senegal, and Ivory Coast were also leveraging LPG to meet Africa’s 2030 clean cooking goals and reduce reliance on biomass.

“The expo will serve as a platform for regional collaboration, with influential industry conference sessions and networking opportunities for stakeholders,” he added.

He noted that this year’s edition is expected to be the largest, featuring over 100 exhibitors and more than 50 expert speakers, including government officials, global investors, consultants, and key LPG players.

The event is supported by the Nigeria Liquefied and Compressed Gas Association, Nigerian Gas Associations, and the Paris-based World Liquid Gas Association; the expo reaffirms its status as a leading platform for promoting LPG and CNG adoption in the region.

“As Africa’s second-largest LPG producer, Nigeria is at the forefront of integrating LPG into its energy framework,” the statement noted.

“Under the Nigerian Energy Transition Plan targeting net-zero emissions by 2060, the country has made significant investments in LPG infrastructure to enhance production, reduce imports, and expand access,” he added.
