Oil Firm Donates State-of-the-Art Science Labs to A’Ibom Sch

An indigenous oil and gas company, Engineering Automation Technology Limited, has donated fully equipped science laboratories to Esteem Schools, Abak, in Akwa Ibom State.

The donation, which includes furnished chemistry, physics, and biology labs, is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme aimed at supporting education in its host community.

Speaking during the handover of the facilities, the Managing Director of EATECH, Dr. Emmanuel Okon, said the initiative was driven by the need to promote knowledge, particularly in science and technology.

He said ignorance remains a major challenge in society and that investments in education are critical to long-term development.

Okon also announced plans to establish a computer-based test centre in the school to support digital literacy and testing.

According to him, the proposed centre will offer training in basic ICT tools and introduce students to coding, robotics, programming, and artificial intelligence.

In her response, the Director of Schools, Mrs. Esitmbom Ekpo, thanked the company for honouring its earlier pledge made during the 2024 graduation ceremony.

She described the laboratories as a major improvement to the school’s infrastructure and said they would enhance science education and student performance.

The new laboratories were formally unveiled during the school’s 2025 graduation ceremony.
