Och’Idoma Emerges National Patron Of SWAN


The paramount ruler of the Idoma kingdom in Benue State, His Royal Majesty, Agaba’Idu Elaigwu Odogbo Obagaji John, at the weekend formally accepted his appointment as National Patron of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).

The acceptance took place during a courtesy visit by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of SWAN to the Och’Idoma at his Palace in Otukpo.

Receiving the leadership of the Association, led by its President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, the Och’Idoma expressed deep appreciation for the honour and commended SWAN for its over six decades of contributions to the promotion of sports, youth development, and national unity since its establishment in 1964.

The revered monarch described sports as a powerful tool for youth empowerment, social cohesion, and nation-building, noting that the media plays a critical role in shaping values.
