Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule has debunked news reports, claiming that he had a meeting with former vice president, Atiku Abubakar in Mecca, Saudi Arabia during his lesser Haji and pledged financial support to Atiku to defeat President Ahmed BolaTinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Sule, in a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Addra, said that there was no time Governor Sule and the former vice president, Atiku Abubakar had a meeting or a dinner during the Lesser Hajj, describing the publication as false, fabricated and mischievous, urging the public to disregard such publication.

Addra stressed that Governor Sule had no meeting or dinner with Atiku Abubakar anywhere in Mecca, saying that the governor didn’t pledge financial support to the former vice president during the Lesser Hajj.

He added that just two days ago, Governor Sule stood before APC leaders from the North Central zonal during the party’s congress and reiterated his unalloyed support to President Tinubu’s reelection bid by seconding a motion adopting him as the sole presidential candidate of the zone in the 2027 general elections.

It was added in the statement that Governor Sule has consistently used available platforms to extol the leadership qualities of President Tinubu and affirmed his unshakable support to the president’s administration and his reelection bid, pointing out that the publication was done to smear the good relationship between Governor Sule and President Tinubu.

While urging the Peoples Gazette to retract the publication, which he said was based on anonymous sources, without verification, he said that the report was the height of junk journalism, and calculated political sabotage.

The statement read in part “The attention of the Nasarawa State Government has been drawn to a report published Friday, March 27th, 2026 by the Peoples Gazette, claiming that Governor Abdullahi A. Sule secretly met with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, during the lesser Hajj, and pledged financial support to help defeat President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, in the 2027 presidential election.
