NIMN 2025 Summit: Championing ESG Practices

The National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria has stated that it will champion environmental, social, and governance practices at its 2025 Annual Marketing Conference and Annual General Meeting.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday in Lagos, the Registrar of the NIMN, Patience Sado, said the marketing institute focused on ESG because it wants to elevate the conversation on driving sustainability for businesses and the environment.

According to Sado, “ESG, we are talking about driving sustainability for the businesses and for the environment. This conference will be a vibrant platform for critical discourse, knowledge exchange, and forward-looking collaboration, essential to advancing the marketing profession and its contributions to national development.”

A Fellow of the NIMN and member of the Event & Conferences Committee, Bolaji Junaid added, “ESG is to help businesses know that beyond profits, they can focus on making an impact and playing a role to make the planet okay. They should do something for the climate. ESG is about sustainability beyond profit and putting people first.”

Further, NIMN member Thelma Okoli stated that the institute hopes to advance a message of personal responsibility to the environment.

Okoli noted, “We need more advocacy campaigns in ESG to make it inclusive. We will start an orientation on climate change for people who do not know much about it. We will preach the gospel that you can begin to store plastic bottles in your home and neighbourhood.”

She added that the conference will include sessions on recycling, adding, “There is also an employment opportunity in recycling for those who do not have jobs. You can pick up these trash bottles – but they are not trash – and turn them into money.”

The conference, which will be held from June 19 to 21, 2025, is themed ‘Leveraging ESG in Driving Value Across Generations’.

NIMN registrar Patience Sado explained that the theme highlights the Institute’s commitment to aligning marketing with responsible innovation, digital transformation, and long-term societal impact.

She explained, “As environmental, social, and governance (ESG) considerations become central to sustainable business strategy, we aim to explore how marketing can be a force for enduring value, not only for brands and shareholders but for society and future generations.”

Sado and the Chairman of the Conferences Committee, Jellily Efedi, noted that the programme would feature a rich lineup of keynote speakers and panellists, including accomplished professionals and business leaders, who would share “diverse insights and practical strategies”.

She added that attendees would enjoy “valuable networking opportunities and meaningful professional engagement”.

The NIMN AGM will also be held during the event period. Sado explained that the AGM will allow members to “review the Institute’s progress, deliberate on key matters, and help shape the direction of our Institute.”

She reaffirmed the Institute’s mandate as a regulatory body under Act Number 25 of 2003, stressing that the NIMN remains committed to promoting ethical standards, capacity building, and excellence in the marketing profession.

NIMN’s registrar said, “We are confident that this year’s event will reinforce these values while positioning the Institute as a catalyst for transformation in the marketing landscape.”

She also expressed appreciation to media partners for their support and urged them to amplify the Institute’s message ahead of the event, adding, “We rely on you to help raise awareness and ensure that this event receives the prominence it deserves.”
