NIM Marks 65 Years & Unveils New Anniversary Logo

The Nigerian Institute of Management has kicked off its 65th anniversary celebrations with a press conference and the unveiling of its commemorative logo at the Chris Abebe Auditorium in Lagos. The milestone event marks six and a half decades of contributions to professional management and leadership in Nigeria.

Speaking on Monday in a press briefing, the President and Chairman of Council, Abimbola Ayuba, welcomed members of the press and outlined the significance of the institute’s journey since its establishment in 1961.

“The Institute has grown to become the foremost, largest, and biggest multidisciplinary professional management institute in Africa,” Ayuba said, highlighting NIM’s influence across Nigeria’s public and private sectors.

The anniversary, themed ‘NIM @ 65: Celebrating National Impact of Management Excellence in Nigeria,’ will feature two major events: the Anniversary Colloquium on 19 August 2026, focusing on ‘Sixty-Five Years of Management Excellence: Strengthening Institutional Governance in an Evolving Economy,’ and the Turning of the Sod at the site of the proposed Management House in Alausa, Ikeja. A commemorative book compiling key papers from the Institute’s flagship events will also be published.

Over the past 65 years, NIM has trained approximately 200,000 professionals and partnered with 400 corporate organisations, with its members widely represented across Nigeria’s economy. The Institute has been at the forefront of capacity building, consultancy, re-engineering, and human capital development in both public and private sectors. It has also contributed policy recommendations and roadmaps to the government on governance and management issues.

Ayuba paid tribute to the founding fathers, past presidents, directors-general, and registrars of the institute, acknowledging their dedication and sacrifices in establishing and strengthening NIM’s legacy. He also expressed gratitude to the Nigerian press for its unwavering support.

“Together, we believe we can contribute more to building a better Nigeria for the benefit of our people and succeeding generations,” he said.

The unveiling of the 65th anniversary logo officially launched activities leading to NIM’s Sapphire Jubilee, marking a celebration of the institute’s enduring impact on Nigeria’s management profession.
