Nigerian management professionals have been tasked with harnessing technology and emerging digital tools to shape the country’s future as the Nigerian Institute of Management awarded its highest professional grade of Fellowship.
The 2025 Fellows Awards and Spouses’ Day, held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, recently, recognised members for their professional achievements while calling on them to drive innovation, productivity, and national development.
President and Chairman of Council, Commodore Abimbola Ayuba (rtd), said the recognition was not merely an accolade but a call to higher responsibility.
“Fellowship upgrade is neither a destination nor an end in itself. Each of you must devote more of your resources to the service of the Institute and the nation,” he said.
The 2025 Fellows will be organised into faculties covering leadership and governance; technology and communication; education and social development; finance, accounts and management audit; planning, economics and management; and safety, health and environment management. These groups are expected to identify challenges, propose studies, and make policy recommendations through the institute’s advocacy initiatives.
Ayuba also announced plans to transform the Institute’s library into a one-stop digital hub, the NIM Resource Centre, and invited the new Fellows to support the initiative.
The ceremony recognised life members for decades of service, as well as individuals, corporate members, and non-members excelling in their professions.
Rear Admiral Babalola Egbedina, rtd, FNIM, delivered the keynote on ‘Building Trust and Accountability: The Human Element of Decentralised Command within Divisional Structures’.
The event celebrated spouses in a tradition begun 13 years ago, ensuring non-members felt included in the ceremony. Ayuba acknowledged the support of Chairman, Board of Fellows, Stella Olaniyan FNIM; Chairman, Awards and Merit Committee, Mohammed Abubakar; members of the Body of Past Presidents; sponsors and donors; and the Institute’s management and staff led by Registrar/CEO, Taiwo Olusesi.
Ayuba concluded by inviting members to the Institute’s 2025 Annual National Management Conference in Abuja, scheduled for September 7–9, on the theme ‘Emerging Technologies to Drive Innovation, Creativity and Productivity’. He urged participants to focus on building “a stronger, smarter, and more impactful Institute.”
