Nigerian Content Creator, London Bus Aunty Wins ‘UK TikTok Video Of The Year’ Award

Nigerian Content creator, Bemi Orojuogun, popularly known as ‘London Bus Aunty’, has won the highly coveted ‘TikTok Video of the Year Award’, cementing her place as one of the platform’s most influential and entertaining voices.

The announcement was made at the TikTok Awards ceremony, where creators from around the world were celebrated for their creativity, originality, and impact.

Orojogun, who has become one of TikTok’s most recognisable Nigerian figures abroad, is known for her simple yet captivating videos featuring London’s iconic double-decker buses.

Her content, often featuring her smiling as buses pass by, without uttering a word, has earned her over 200,000 followers on TikTok and 20,000 fans on Instagram, mainly because of its clever use of forced perspective and its seemingly daring nature.

Her videos have garnered millions of views, leading to a broader social media presence, and she has since collaborated with brands such as Burberry and the Mayor of London on various campaigns.

In her remarks after receiving the award on Thursday, Bus Aunty expressed deep gratitude to her supporters.

“I want to say thank you to my followers. You all believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. You saw something good in me. You guys got me here. I’m dedicating this award to all of my followers. This one is for all of you,” she said.

Bus Aunty also expressed her appreciation to TikTok for providing a platform that allows everyone to shine. She said the platform’s accessibility and inclusivity made it possible for talents like hers to be discovered and celebrated.

By winning the TikTok award, Orojogun joins a growing roster of Nigerians making their mark on international creator platforms, demonstrating that even simple ideas, such as filming London buses, can capture global attention.
